Is it permissible for a menstruating woman to touch a part of the Qur’an, whether she is a teacher or a student. Is a part of Quran and entire Qur’an equalized in this matter?

Answers

Ibrahim Saleh Al-Husseini: First, a menstruating woman may recite the Qur’an and it is not permissible for her to touch anything from the Qur’an, neither a part of it nor the entire Quran, whether she is a student or a teacher. The touch the jurists have permitted for the students is based on case without ablution, and not on major impurity. Menstruation is one of Major Impurity. So, menstruation is one of the major nullifications of purity and the menstruating woman has the right to read the Qur’an. She may read “آية الكرسي” or “لقد جاءكم” or something else to fortify her and it is permissible for her to worship by reciting the Qur’an from her memory. While, touching the Qur’an is not permissible to her. “Only the purified ones touch it,” so it is not permissible for her to touch anything from the Qur’an, neither part of it nor the whole. And the ‘JUZ’ of course, if we say the ‘JUZ’ of the Qur’an, then it’s intended here that, the part of the Qur’an, opposite one to complete. As for the ‘JUZ’ on the Terminology of ‘HIZB’ is not what meant here, but what is meant here is the incomplete part of the Qur’an, you understand?

Is it permissible for a menstruating woman, to carry goods which include Qur’an too?

Yes, we say this is permissible, because she did not touch the Quran. So it’s counted as indirect.

What is the meaning of Almighty’s quote: “لا يمسه إلا المطهرون”, and what is the ruling on giving the translated Qur’an to non-Muslims so that they read it and take from it the message of Islam?

Ibrahim Saleh al-Husseini: Yes, “لا يمسه إلا المطهرون”. In some aspects of the interpretations, the meaning of this verse is that it’s only touched by the angels; another interpretation is it’s only touched by the believers in only one god; another interpretation is that it’s only touched by the pure people with ablutions, did you understand?

As for the ruling on giving a translation to non-Muslims, I say to you, 'We are now at a time in which aggressors have gained the power. We are in a time when no one can tell people the truth. If the matter is resolved, it is permissible for Muslims to translate the Qur’an without mentioning the Arabic text and give to those who want to give it, be an unbeliever or a Muslim, this does not harm. But, giving the Qur’an as it is being done now, as a gift or sale to a non-Muslim in the Arabic language, I do not agree with it, and it is forbidden. Because the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, even forbade us from traveling with the Qur’an to the region of enemies, he prevented the Companions from traveling with the Qur’an to the home of the infidels, and we can’t declare upon Islamic rulings that if the Messenger had attended this time, he would have done such because, the Messenger takes his affairs and rulings from God. And God knows our time and the time that is after us and the time before us, nothing is hidden from him.  “Upon God, does not conceal anything on earth nor in Heaven, neither in the past nor in the future”.
