Speech of His Eminence Sheikh Ibrahim Salih Al Husseini, chairman of the Fatwa Commission and the Nigerian Islamic Council, on behalf of African scholars in announcing the establishment of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Scholars in Darul Baiylah on the night of Ramadan 26, 1436, corresponding to July 13, 2015

In the name of of Allah, the Merciful

Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon the best one among all Messengers, our Master Muhammad, the faithful Prophet, and upon his purified family, and upon his gentlemen companions, the stubbornness of the aggressors and the Imams of the converts.

Our master, commander of the faithful, and Protector of the faith and religion, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God support you with his victory, and may God perpetuate your glory and exaltedness; Ameen.

God, the Blessed and Exalted be He, says, in his wisdom full revelation: {O those who have believed} respond to God and to the Messenger when he calls you to what will give you life (and preservation). Remember that God intervenes between man and his heart, and that you will be gathered before Him.

The Sunnah of God, the Blessed and Exalted be he, necessitated that the Islamic Ummah, since the dawn of Islam, has undergone many kinds of calamities and tribulations, but it was able to transcend them all thanks to its adherence to the Book of its Lord and the Sunnah of its noble Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and by wrapping it around its inspired leaders. Strong, just rulers, and pious scholars who are working, until the faithfulness of this religion reached us in this era at the hands of our divine scholars who believed what they had pledged to God upon, and did not alter or distort, so Islam came to us pure and safe as the Prophet beloved and the Chosen One, may God bless him and grant him peace, gave from his Lord.

And God, the Blessed and Exalted be he, have some burden for his servants in this nation to save it until the time of need, and as we live in grief and pain because of the world being subjected to the spread of extremism in many countries. Then, we hear the call of King Mohammed VI, may God preserve him, who intended to form this institution that he is about to announce: The Mohammed VI Foundation for African Scholars, on this blessed night of this great month, and in this pure spot, to bring together African scholars, Moroccans and others, to carry out the duty of calling to God, the Blessed and Exalted be he, following the example of our early ancestors who spread Islam in its purity throughout the sub-continent, with the virtuous morals and values that Islam came to spread to make all mankind happy.

It should be noted that Morocco's relationship with African nations is a spiritual relationship before it is material. Morocco, although it has the merit in spreading Islamic values, unites it with all African countries of belief, and the Sunni doctrine and methodology in Sufism and behaviour. Therefore, we consider the call to this institution an act that came in its due time, and here we are today, we see that God, the Blessed and Exalted be he, has fulfilled for us a dear wish that we were unable to fulfill having the great need for it before, until, the Blessed and Most Highest, the Commander of the Faithful, His Majesty King Muhammad VI, may God support him and grant him victory to do this great work.

Hence, we, in the name of the virtuous scholars from Africa who are present and who were absent for legitimate excuses, with their determination to attend later, God willing, are announcing our acceptance for this call, because it came in its accurate time. So, scholar have united to accept this call and to make it successful because it is a call to determination from the Sunnah of Messenger of God (PBUH), and Allah has called us to unite and to adhere to the obedience of the rulers in the Almighty saying: {O those who have believed, obey God and obey the Messenger and the one who are in power.

In conclusion, we beseech the Almighty God to preserve your noble and sublime, Commander of the Faithful, with what the wise mention (Quran) has been preserved, and to prolong the stay of Your Majesty blessed and enjoying complete health, with glory and empowerment, and the clear victory and conquest, and for your eyes to get relax by your Crown Prince, His Royal Highness, Moulay El Hassan And to strengthen you with blessings, His Royal Highness, Moulay Al-Rashid, and the rest of the glorious Alawite family.

We also extend our sincere congratulations to you on the occasion of the establishment of this institution, which will have a matter under your honorable auspices, God willing, asking the Almighty to help us to work in it with sincerity and impartiality in order to elevate this religion and preserve its constants, and to keep the Kingdom of Morocco, strong and united in Its pure soil blessed with lasting security and peace, and with further progress, stability and prosperity.
